|Poland’s biathletes are looking forward to the opening of the Euro 2012 on Friday evening in Warsaw with eager anticipation.
With Poland co-hosting the tournament with Ukraine, several of Poland’s top athletes revealed that they are as enthusiastic about the football tournament as they are about biathlon. Of course they hope their home team will win the title, but if not, they have secondary favorites.
If Not Poland, Then Spain
Lukasz Szczurek commented, “I am a big football fan. I hope I have time to watch all the matches. Of course I hope Poland will be Champion! But if things don’t work out – maybe Spain?” Teammate Adam Kwak hoped to be in the stadium for a game or two but that did not work out. “Regretfully I couldn’t get hold of tickets so I will watch the matches on TV. I believe that Poland have a good chance to win their group. If not Poland, I think Spain will become Champion”.
The women on the team are just as enthusiastic about this big event in their home country as the men on their team. Most will be glued to their television sets for that first match in Warsaw at 17:00 on Friday evening. Magdalena Gwizdoń said, “I know the first match is on Friday… I will try to watch.J”
Home Team for Palka
Krystyna Palka, 17th in the World Cup Total Score last season, is definitely rooting for the home team. “I would really like to see the matches live but I will not have the opportunity. So I will watch ALL J the matches on TV. I will keep my fingers crossed for Poland!”
