Marie Dorin Habert: “Baby on Board” and “At Home” Video

Probably the biggest surprise of these 2015 IBU World Championships so far is the two victories of France’s Marie Dorin Habert. About a year ago, she announced that she was pregnant with her first child. Daughter Adele was born in late September. The new mother was back at the shooting range shortly after. She returned to competition at Oberhof and now is a double World Champion. Last June, Biathlonworld TV caught up with her at a training camp and a few days later at her home in Villard de Lans. Our video “Marie Dorin Habert: Baby on Board!” is about her training while pregnant. The second video “At Home…with Marie Dorin Habert” is a biographical piece where she talks about her early days in biathlon and her long-term goals. Dorin Habert’s road to Gold is definitely a unique story in our sport!

Pursuit Win Means Double Gold for Marie

Marie Dorin Habert who had her first ever career victory in last night's World Championship sprint doubled up her win total today by winning the women's 10K pursuit title. She led from wire-to-wire and won the Gold medal in 30:07.5 with three penalties. The Silver medal went to Germany's Laura Dahlmeier, with two penalties, 15.3 seconds back. Weronika Nowakowska-Ziemniak won her second medal of the week, taking Bronze, with three penalties, 31.6 seconds back. Clean-shooting Ekaterina Shumilova of Russia finished fourth, 48.6 seconds back. Fifth went to Gabriela Soukalova of Czech Republic, with one penalty, 58 seconds back. Franziska Hildebrand of Germany finished sixth, with two penalties, 1 minute back. Yellow Bib wearing Darya Domracheva of Belarus finished seventh, with two penalties, 1:04.5 back. The women had similar conditions to the men, which made shooting much easier than in the sprint

Valja Semerenko: Her Sister, Her Dreams and Biathlon

Valja Semerenko is currently third in the World Cup Total Score and won a Bronze medal in the World Championships Sprint on Saturday. Yet she considered not competing this season after a hard Olympic year where she won a Relay Gold medal. Gold for Erik Lesser in Men’s Pursuit

Germany's Erik Lesser won the men's pursuit Gold medal with clean shooting in 30:47.9 today, giving Germany its first medals of these 2015 IBU World Championships. Russia's Anton Shipulin finished with the Silver medal, with one penalty, 17 seconds back. Tarjei Boe of Norway claimed his third medal in the Bronze spot, 18.7 seconds back, with one penalty. Michal Slesingr of the Czech Republic finished fourth, also with one penalty, 20.4 seconds back, while Ole Einar Björndalen of Norway, with two penalties, finished fifth, 43.9 seconds back. Vladimir Iliev of Bulgaria finished sixth, with two penalties, 45.9 seconds back. Yellow bib wearing Martin Fourcade finished seventh with three penalties, 1:06.8 back.

France Battles, Wins IBU Cup Mixed Relay

An exciting mixed relay, the last competition of the2014-15 IBU Cup biathlon season, was held on Saturday in Canmore. Eleven teams battled for the final podium spots with the temperature around 4C, some sun, and clouds. Team France with Anais Chevalier, Marine Bolliet, Baptiste Jouty and Antonin Guigonnat, used just 6 spares, less than any other squad, to finish on the first in 1:07:05.5. Austria with 9 spare rounds became second, snatching second place from the Italian team on the last loop, 11.3 seconds back. The Italians were in the lead until the last shooting stage, but lost not only first, but even second place; with 7 spares they finished third, 25.0 seconds behind. Fourth place went to Germany, Norway fifth, and Russia finished sixth.

Marie Dorin Habert Wins Weather Battle, Sprint Gold

Marie Dorin Habert of France, battling heavy snow and gale-force winds upset the big favorites to win the women's sprint Gold medal this evening. Her time of 22:16.8, with one penalty gave the 28-year-old Dorin Habert not just her first World Championships Gold medal but also first individual victory of her career. The Silver medal and first podium of her career went to Weronika Nowakowska Ziemniak of Poland, who shot clean but finished 9.6 seconds back. Valja Semerenko of Ukraine won the Bronze medal with one penalty, 19.7 seconds back.

Sprint Gold for Johannes Thingnes Boe

Norway's Johannes Thingnes Boe won his first IBU World Championship gold medal today by taking the men's 10K sprint in 24:12.8, with a single penalty. This victory combined with his three victories in last year's World Cup here makes him undefeated in individual competitions at this venue. The Silver went to surprising Nathan Smith of Canada, with one penalty, 12.1 seconds back. This was his first ever podium and medal. The Gold medalist's older brother Tarjei claimed the Bronze medal, shooting clean, 25.3 seconds back.

Nikulina and Stephan Take Final IBU Cup Sprints

Anna Nikulina of Russia and Christoph Stephan of Germany won the final sprints of the IBU Cup season on Friday in Canmore. Nikulina had a single penalty on the way to her 20:09.8 win while Stephan shot clean, winning in 25:52.1.
