Sprint Gold for Johannes Thingnes Boe

Norway's Johannes Thingnes Boe won his first IBU World Championship gold medal today by taking the men's 10K sprint in 24:12.8, with a single penalty. This victory combined with his three victories in last year's World Cup here makes him undefeated in individual competitions at this venue. The Silver went to surprising Nathan Smith of Canada, with one penalty, 12.1 seconds back. This was his first ever podium and medal. The Gold medalist's older brother Tarjei claimed the Bronze medal, shooting clean, 25.3 seconds back.

Nikulina and Stephan Take Final IBU Cup Sprints

Anna Nikulina of Russia and Christoph Stephan of Germany won the final sprints of the IBU Cup season on Friday in Canmore. Nikulina had a single penalty on the way to her 20:09.8 win while Stephan shot clean, winning in 25:52.1.

2015 IBU World Championships Opening Ceremonies

The 2015 IBU World Championships kicked off on Wednesday evening with a gala opening Ceremonies at the Market Square in Joensuu, Finland. Over 5,000 fans and local residents saw the teams march in and speeches by dignitaries including IBU president Anders Besseberg and Finland’s Prime Minister Alexander Stubb. Czech Republic Slogs to Mixed Relay Gold

The Czech Republic team of Veronika Vitkova, Gabriela Soukalova, Michal Slesingr and Ondrej Moravec, with eight spare rounds, battled the soft, deep wet snow to claim the mixed relay Gold medal tonight in 1:20:27.2. France also with eight spares claimed the Silver medal, 20.2 seconds back. Norway with one penalty and three spares, finished third, taking the Bronze medal, 27.7 seconds back.

Horchler’s Hat Trick; Eliseev Takes 20K

Karolin Horchler of Germany completed her hat trick of three consecutive wins by winning the women's 15K in Canmore with one penalty in 44:34.4. In the afternoon men's 20K, Matvey Eliseev had two penalties but prevailed in 50:25.1.

With just 2 days until the opening mixed relay at the 2015 IBU World Championships, most of the teams have arrived in Joensuu, Finland. Training today was held under cloudy but above freezing conditions, which made the tracks very soft and wet.

Third Win for Florian Graf; Number Two for Horchler

Florian Graf of Germany won the second men's sprint in Canmore while scoring his third sprint victory this season in 24:36.1. In the afternoon, Karolin Horchler of Germany shot clean and won her second women's sprint in a row in 19:58.7.
