Norwegian Women Golden in Relay

The Norwegian team of Synnøve Solemdal, Fanny Horn Birkeland, Tiril Eckhoff and Marte Olsbu won the women's relay Gold medal, with six spare rounds in 1:07:10. France won the Silver medal, with eight spares, 5.3 seconds back. The Bronze medal went to Germany, with four spare rounds 28.6 seconds back.

Fourcade Comeback for Gold Number Four

Martin Fourcade of France came back from a penalty in the first standing stage, with an impressive skiing performance to win his fourth Gold medal in the men's 20K individual at the IBU World Championships today. His time of 49:13.9 put him 5.1 seconds ahead of the Silver medalist Dominik Landertinger of Austria who shot clean. His teammate Simon Eder won the Bronze medal, also shooting clean, 14.4 seconds back.

French Day at IBU Cup: Bolliet and Guigonnat Win Sprint

Clean-shooting Marine Bolliet of France confidently won the first sprint at IBU Cup 8 in 22:59.1. Norway's Hilde Fenne matched her on the range but finished second, 35.0 seconds back. Third went to Karolin Horchler of Germany who also shot clean, 46.7 seconds back.

She’s Back: Anastasiya Kuzmina Returns

The double Olympic Champion Anastasiya Kuzmina of Slovakia gave a birth to a second child last summer. She skipped two years and was even thinking about retiring. However a few months after her daughter Olivia was born, she understood that sitting home was not the answer and she would continue her sports career. In the autumn she started training again and today started at the IBUI Cup in Martell to score qualifying points for the upcoming season.

IBU Cup Final in Martell; Kuzmina Returns

Beautiful and picturesque Martell, Italy with perfect winter and track conditions will conduct the last IBU Cup, number 8 for 32 nations with 108 men and 75 women competing. For some athletes it is a great opportunity to score top places for the last time this season, but for the others, there is still a battle for the IBU Cup Total and Sprint Scores.

French Double-Dip: Dorin Habert and Bescond in 15K

The French team went for two scoops, one Gold and one Silver with Marie Dorin Habert and Anais Bescond taking the top two spots in the women's 15K individual today in Oslo. Both women had a single penalty, with Dorin Habert crossing the finish line in 44:02.8 and Bescond 12.2 seconds back. Laura Dahlmeier of Germany had two penalties, but skied exceptionally to win the Bronze medal, 1:17.8 back.

Martin Fourcade will defend his 2015 WCH title and go after Gold medal number 4 here in Oslo in tomorrow's men's 20K individual. It will not be an easy road to that medal over a course that several men described as the toughest on the World Cup circuit.

International Women’s Day: Saluting Ladies of Biathlon

The 2016 IBU World Champion in the women's 15K individual will be crowned tomorrow afternoon, the men's 20K Champion on Thursday. This parity in biathlon is taken for granted today, as in many sports. Women compete on an equal footing for the same prize money at the same venues today, but there were no women in biathlon in the early days of the sport.
